Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Institution of Engineers - Somalia (IES) Journal welcomes submissions that align with its mission to advance engineering knowledge and practice. Authors are encouraged to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth submission and review process:

General Guidelines

  1. Originality: Submissions must be original and not under consideration by any other journal or publication.
  2. Language: Manuscripts should be written in clear and concise English.
  3. Scope: Articles should align with the journal’s aim and scope, covering topics in engineering and related fields.

 

Manuscript Preparation

    1. Formatting

      • File format: Submit manuscripts in MS Word or LaTeX format.
      • Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
      • Spacing: Double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
      • Length: Manuscripts should typically be between 4,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
    2. Structure

      • Title Page:
        • Title of the article (clear and concise).
        • Full names of all authors, their affiliations, and email addresses.
        • Corresponding author's contact information.
      • Abstract: A brief summary of the manuscript (150–250 words).
      • Keywords: 4–6 keywords that represent the core content of the manuscript.
      • Introduction: Clearly state the background, objectives, and significance of the study.
      • Methodology: Detailed explanation of methods and materials used.
      • Results and Discussion: Present findings clearly and discuss their implications.
      • Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and suggest future research directions.
      • References: Use a consistent citation style (preferably APA or IEEE format).
    3. Tables and Figures

      • Include tables and figures within the manuscript, near their first mention.
      • Provide clear captions for all tables and figures.
      • Ensure high-resolution images (300 DPI or higher) for clarity.
